🎯 Introduction
Applying for MBBS in India is a dream for many students, but that dream can quickly turn into confusion if you’re not aware of the proper documentation process.
Whether you’re applying through All India Quota (AIQ), State Quota, Deemed Universities, or Management/NRI seats, documentation plays a critical role in every stage — from NEET counseling registration to final college admission.
In this blog, Zoco brings you a comprehensive list of required documents, their purpose, and useful tips to avoid rejection or delays.
📋 1. NEET Admit Card (Mandatory)
Issued by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Must be presented at counseling centers and during verification.
Should be the same version used on exam day, with clear photograph and signature.
📝 Tip: Keep both soft and printed copies. Don’t laminate the original — colleges often ask for signed originals.
📊 2. NEET Scorecard / Rank Letter
Downloaded from https://neet.nta.nic.in after result declaration.
Shows your NEET score, percentile, and All India Rank (AIR).
Essential for AIQ and State counseling registrations.
🔐 Keep a few copies for different counseling authorities (MCC, state portals, deemed universities).
🏫 3. Class 10 Mark Sheet & Certificate
Used for proof of date of birth.
Required at every level of the counseling and admission process.
🎓 Must match the DOB on your Aadhaar and other ID proofs. Discrepancies can delay or block admission.
🧪 4. Class 12 Mark Sheet & Certificate
The most critical academic document.
Your eligibility is based on PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) scores.
You must have passed with:
Minimum 50% for General category
40% for SC/ST/OBC
45% for PwD (Persons with Disability)
📌 Ensure your mark sheet is attested or verified if applying outside your board/state.
🏡 5. Domicile Certificate (for State Quota Admissions)
Proves you’re a resident of the state you’re applying under.
Issued by the local district office or revenue department.
Mandatory for State counseling.
🛑 Without this, you cannot apply under the 85% state quota seats.
🧾 6. Category/Caste Certificate (If Applicable)
For SC/ST/OBC/EWS students.
Must be issued by competent authority as per central or state format.
Some states also require Non-Creamy Layer certificates (OBC-NCL).
🔍 Double-check if your category is listed under central or state reservation. Submit both if applying under both quotas.
🧑⚖️ 7. Income Certificate (For EWS Category or Scholarships)
Proves your family income is below the eligibility threshold for EWS or fee concessions.
Issued by Tahsildar/SDM or local government body.
📌 Renew this yearly if applying for recurring scholarships.
📜 8. Character Certificate
Issued by your last attended school or college.
Reflects your behavior, conduct, and attendance.
✅ Usually valid for 6–12 months. Get an updated one if old.
🔁 9. Transfer Certificate (TC) / School Leaving Certificate
Proves you’ve officially exited your previous institution.
Needed before joining the new college.
📝 Should be in original and have the principal’s signature.
🚚 10. Migration Certificate
Required when moving between education boards (e.g., CBSE to state board).
Helps validate your previous qualification.
🛑 Make sure your migration certificate is board-issued, not school-issued.
🧑💼 11. Medical Fitness Certificate
A basic health check-up to certify you’re physically fit for a rigorous course like MBBS.
Issued by an MBBS doctor or a government-registered practitioner.
💡 Some states provide a format. Use the specified format if available.
🖼️ 12. Passport-sized Photographs
You’ll need 6–10 recent color photos (usually 3.5 x 4.5 cm).
Same photo used in NEET form is preferred.
📸 Carry both matte and glossy finish — some colleges specify.
🪪 13. Government-Issued ID Proof (Aadhaar Card/Passport/Voter ID)
Used for identity verification during counseling and college admission.
Aadhaar is preferred, but some colleges accept passport as well.
🔐 Make sure your name matches exactly across all documents.
📁 14. Gap Certificate (If Applicable)
Required if there is a 1+ year gap between your 12th and current admission.
A self-declaration affidavit stating the reason (e.g., NEET preparation, personal reasons).
📝 Get it notarized from a local advocate or district magistrate.
🌍 15. NRI/Foreign Student Documents (If Applicable)
Passport and Visa
Sponsorship letter from NRI guardian
Embassy certification and financial support proof
💼 Applies only to NRI/PIO/OCI applicants and private/deemed universities.
