BAMS Admission Process

• National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test  (NEET) is the basis for the selection of students for the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery.
• In India, NEET is compulsory for admission into many medical courses including Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery and MBBS.
• The centralized NEET counselling is held after the NEET exam for the admission of the NEET qualified students in the various courses of medical science according to their performance in the Entrance exam i.e. NEET.
• Interviews are also done by various colleges for giving admission to students in Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery.

BAMS Admission 2024

The BAMS Admission Process that aspirants should follow to get admission in the course of BAMS is as follows:

• Admission to the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery course is done mainly through BAMS entrance examinations.
• Aspirants of BAMS have to qualify for NEET-UG to get admission to the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery.
• The NEET application fees for appearing in the exam for the general category are INR 1,500 and INR 800 for the SC/ST categories.

Eligibility

The minimum NEET ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA for applying to the BAMS course are as follows:

• Candidates need to have a minimum of 50%-60% in their 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board.
• The minimum required score in the 10+2 may vary according to the top BAMS colleges present in India.
• Candidates must have Physics, Chemistry and Biology as the main subjects in the 12th board examinations.
• The upper age limit for the candidates appearing for the NEET exam from the general category is 20 years. While a relaxation of 4 years is given to the reserved categories.
• Candidates must prepare in accordance with NEET syllabus in order to qualify for the exam. 

Entrance Exams

The NEET entrance exam 2024 is the most accepted entrance exam for getting into the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery. According to NEET 2024 Exam Pattern, the question paper will consist of 200 questions out of which candidates have to attempt 180, details of which are provided in the table. There are also some State-level examinations for taking admission to the State Government College for BAMS. 

Candidates are selected on the basis of the final merit. The final merit list is prepared by calculating the sum of the total score obtained in the qualifying examination as 10+2 and the entrance examination score.

The candidates can apply for BAMS in BHU by giving the NEET exam. There are a total of 50 seats for the BAMS course in BHU and the aspirants need to ace their scores in the NEET exam. The total fee for a BAMS course for 5.5 years in BHU is INR 56,500.

BAMS Syllabus

• The BAMS Syllabus consists of three different sections of the academic semester of 1 and ½ years each.
• These semesters in BAMS Syllabus are known as the three professional courses.
• The first professional course in the BAMS syllabus consists of anatomy, physiology and the history of the Ayurvedic system.
• The second course in the BAMS syllabus contains biology and pharmacology and the final course of the BAMS Syllabus contains surgery, ENT, skin, obstetrics and gynaecology.
